The Happiness Tag

Lately, I’ve been on a job hunt and let me tell you, that’s some really depressing stuff. I’d like to think I’m a generally happy person, but trying to find a job has kind of kept me a little down. I think it’d be nice to remind myself of some of the things that make me happy.

List 5 Things That Make You Happy

Playing Video Games With My Brother

While I love playing video games all on my own, I always find it more enjoyable when I play games with my brother, especially when we’re playing on the same team for games like Borderlands and Left For Dead. I also love backseat gaming. I’m not that good at games like Skyrim or Assassin’s Creed, but he is. So, I like to just watch and relax (and add in my two cents when needed).

Spending Time With My Close Friends

Before I left for Ireland, I became really close with my roommates. My semester with them, was by far, the best semester I ever had, second only to my semester in Ireland. They’ve become like sisters to me. We’ve decided to go to Disneyland, Universal Studios, and whatever large event that interests us every year until it’s just not possible anymore.

Going to the Movies

Whether I go alone or with friends and family, I find going to the cinema a real treat. I absolutely adore movies and while it’s easy to watch them at home on Netflix, I find going to the movies to be much more exciting and memorable. Also, I like collecting ticket stubs!

Taking Long Walks

I hate the gym and so I make up for my lack of physical activity by going on long walks. But I don’t like to walk just to stay active. I like to walk because I love being outdoors and I finally have time to myself to just think and daydream.

Cleaning

I’m the type of person who needs things to be clean and orderly at home. It hurts my soul to see clothes strewn about, unmade beds, and dirty carpets. Cleaning helps me find a slice of happiness in my everyday routine!

I thought it’d be too easy for me to add books/reading to this list. But obviously books make me very, very happy indeed.

Shut Up and Dance – Walk the Moon

I can’t help but dance whenever this song comes on. And dancing also makes me happy so this song is the perfect solution to whenever I’m feeling a little down.

Schoolin’ Life – Beyoncé

This song is a bit underrated and is, in my opinion, one of Beyoncé’s best. It’s fantastically upbeat (perfect for dancing) and it’s got some pretty good lyrics. It brings a smile to my face whenever I put it on.

I Lived – OneRepublic

I love this song because it’s just so uplifting and inspirational and full of goodness. It’s a song that’s meant to make you smile. And that’s exactly what I do whenever I hear it!

La Vita è Bella – Nicola Piovani

Sometimes, words aren’t needed to bring a bit of happiness. I haven’t seen the movie, Life is Beautiful, but I know it’s quite sad. This little score, however, is far from it. I put it on whenever I’m in a good mood and whenever I need to be in a good mood.

Hard Times – Paramore

At this point in my life, I relate to this song on a personal, no, a spiritual level.

As an extra, Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” is also a song that brings a smile to my face every. single. time. It’s just so fun and lighthearted. A nice little remedy to the blues.
