Goodreads TBR Clean Up | # 2

Time to take a look at the TBR again to see which books will stay and which will be removed from the list.

Greyscale = Books that will be REMOVED

Color = Books that will STAY

About the Books I’m Keeping:

Lately, I’ve been more interested in Adult fantasy. Most YA fantasy is starting to seem very recycled. I think I may be growing out of a large portion of YA genres…that’s why I’ve removed many of the older ones on my TBR. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon and The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco had been popular a few years ago in the blogging community but I hadn’t been much interested in Adult fantasy at the time. Now that my preferences are leaning more towards that category, I have a renewed interest in those two books.

About the Books I’m Removing:

Almost all of the books I’m removing above were added based on their cover or because I had seen them briefly in the library years ago and marked them down as “to read.” I barely know what any of them are about. The only one that I was on the fence about was Nemesis by Anna Banks. The cover is gorgeous and the premise sounds promising, but the reviews convinced me that there are better books out there for me to consider.

About the Books I’m Keeping:

I’ve always been interested in A Monster Calls, but I’ve just always placed it on the backburner. Eventually, I’ll get myself to read it, or at least watch the film. The concept of Passenger seems unique and I’d love to try it one day. I love the modern fairytale trend and The Bear and the Nightingale has been at the top of my list of to-reads. I just have to get in the mood to read it. Half Truths and Half Lies are novellas for the Half Bad series, an underrated series I appreciated years ago. I think I might read these when I choose to reread the series.

About the Books I’m Removing:

I just can’t see myself starting a long YA vampire series like the Morganville Vampires and enjoying it now. So I’ll just remove Glass Houses. I wasn’t much a fan of A.G. Howard’s Splintered series and I finally realized that RoseBlood doesn’t really call to me at all. The premise to Mad Miss Mimic sounds very interesting, but I don’t think I’ll ever remember to actually read this with all the newer books and series I’ve turned my attention to lately. Since I haven’t read Passenger just yet, I’ll remove the sequel Wayfarer.

I actually tried reading When the Moon Was Ours a couple years ago, only to realize that magical realism isn’t a favored genre of mine. While I liked Natalie C. Anderson’s other book Let’s Go Swimming on Doomsday, I’m not sure if the synopsis of City of Saints and Theives will pull me in the same way. A Crown of Wishes is the sequel to The Star-touched Queen, a book I read a very long time ago and hadn’t been much impressed with. I’d have to reread the first book to read the second, and I really have no intention of doing so.

Removed: 17 books

Kept: 7 books

GR “Want to Read” Total: 433 books

Thanks so much for stopping by. Until next time! 💖
