It’s been a while since I’ve done this meme! Mostly because I’ve kind of been struggling to find any standalones I’ve read, besides classics, but I think I’m fresh out. And then I realized that if I go to the classics, there are only a few I actually like and would recommend. Even so, I haven’t featured all of my favorite classics yet, so I’ll do those for now!
As I mentioned before, I’m going to have to resort to the classics, as I am quickly running out of standalones that have been published in the last two to three decades. So, for today’s standalone, I recommend:
My last two Jane Austen novels!
Emma: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 1/2
Persuasion: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 1/2
The dialogue is carefully crafted among the characters, the scenery is painted with a sense of familiarity, the characters are vibrant, and the romance is top-notch. I encourage everyone to read Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. My Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 1/2
The great thing about Jane Austen is that none of her stories are too boring. My Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Should I feel inadequate as an English student? Should I be ashamed that I’ve not taken the time or the liberty to read these English essentials?
This one is called Austen’s gothic parody, and what a parody it was. My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2
