April TBR 2021

I haven’t really been reading with a TBR these past few months. I’ve really just been picking up whichever book I feel like reading. However, this month I have so many potential library loans coming in that I have to read them before my holds expire!

This month’s TBR is a mix of new, anticipated reads released in April, new releases I didn’t get to last month, and also library loans that I just HAVE to get to before my time runs out ๐Ÿ˜€

I’ve been meaning to get my hands on City of Brass, The Diviners, Middlegame, and Leviathan Wakes for a long while now. I didn’t want to outright purchase them because 1) they’re still kind of expensive and 2) I’m unsure if I really want or need them on my shelves. After I read them, I’ll know for sure if I should dish out some cash LOL.

The Gilded Wolves has been on my radar for a bit but I haven’t felt the need to really jump on it until I found a pristine copy in a used bookstore for $7. I might as well give it a try. My shelves look all the better for it. I’m only reading The Obelisk Gate because I liked the first one well enough and the second one was available in the library, so why not jump on it now?

I’ve seen A Dark and Hollow Star floating around GR lately and the synopsis grabbed me immediately. I’m really looking forward to it! The Infinity Courts is one of my anticipated reads for this month. I’m borrowing it first before buying, so I’m hoping I love it enough to have it on my shelves sometime.

I just finished Rule of Wolves. Not my favorite from Bardugo and certainly didn’t feel like a Nikolai-centered book, but it was still a pretty solid read that finally paired two of my favorite characters. I wasn’t in the mood to read Chain of Iron last month and honestly, I’m still not, but I’ll see how I feel in about two weeks.

I’ve finally gotten back to audiobooks. Originally, I had started listening to them to when I had a 20-25 minute drive to work every morning. Now that my current job is only about 5 min away, that routine stopped. However, I try to take a walk every day after work (about 6 miles) and that gives me almost 2 hours worth of listening time! A perfect opportunity to fit more books into my busy schedule ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m currently listening to The Cousins. I like that there are 3 different narrators but I’m not too hot on the plot. It’s taking a reallllly long time to get interesting. I’m holding out hope for it though. I’m actually really excited for A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. The sample of the audiobook was awesome and this book has been on my TBR for a while. I’ve heard nothing but good things.

The Female of the Species is a random pick. It’s not my normal sort of reading, but I’ve heard it’s really good and I like to listen to mystery, thrillers, and contemporary pieces. I might not have the time to pick the book up, but I can make time to listen to it!

And that’s what my month of reading may look like! I’m actually really excited for all of these and I’m happy that I’m reading more adult fiction, too. YA is great but I’ve been needing a little more variety lately. Hopefully I can actually get to most of these, if not all of them.

Happy reading! Thanks so much for stopping by. Until next time! ๐Ÿ’–

  1. Oh, you already finished Rule of Wolves!? I still haven’t received my copy … the publisher has problems delivering to my country at the moment, but I’m trying to be patient. Too bad you didn’t enjoy it too much, but I felt the same for King of Scars already, so I guess this makes sense.
Hope you enjoy all your April reads!
