Down the TBR Hole | #8

I’m not even going to talk about the fact that I’ve been on hiatus since *squints at a calendar* January something. My reasons: I have none. I just didn’t blog. But I’ve really been missing the stimulating experience of cavorting with fellow bookworms and delving into bookish content. So, here’s a post that I decided to do on the fly!

I’ve been staring at my Goodreads TBR shelf, just wondering what half of the books are on there. And I’ve finally worked up the courage to simply delete them. I have no intention of getting to most of those books because my preferences have changed. I’ve learned that early 2010s books really aren’t working out for me right now… The solution: forget about most of them. I probably will be disappointed since my standards have changed since my teen years.

Time for a cleansing.

Down the TBR Hole is a weekly book meme created by the wonderful Lia @ Lost in a Story that attempts to organize our ridiculously long Goodreads TBR list by choosing either to keep or eliminate the books we’ve saved on there.

  • WHAT LIGHT | Jay Asher | Reason: YA romances are slowly becoming less appealing to me
  • FANTASTIC BEASTS | J.K. Rowling | Reason: No. Just. No.
  • FROZEN CHARLOTTE | Alex Bell | Reason: Not really my cup of tea any more
  • RUBY RED | Kerstin Gier | Reason: Sounds like a 2011 cliché
  • UGLY LOVE | Collen Hoover | Reason: I don’t think Hoover is an author I’d be interested in
  • THE WINNER’S CRIME | Marie Rutkoski | Reason: I have yet to read the first book
  • THE BLAZING STAR | Imani Josey | Reason: The Ancient Egypt setting calls to me, but nothing else does
  • THE GODDESS TEST | Aimee Carter | Reason: Definitely a remnant of early 2010s past
  • A MILLION WORLDS WITH YOU | Claudia Gray | Reason: Still haven’t read the first book yet

  • THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR | Nicola Yoon | Reason: I bought it a while ago and I’m eventually gonna read it. Maybe
  • GLASS SWORD | Victoria Aveyard | Reason: I don’t even know at this point. I haven’t tried to finish reading it since 2016. Should I let this one go???? It’s on my shelves and I have the next book too…WHAT DO?!
  • OUTLANDER | Diana Gabaldon | Reason: I love the show. Would like to read the source material one day

GO: 9

I’m actually on the fence about The Sun Is Also a Star and Glass Sword. I’ve had them in my personal library for years now and I never get the urge to read them…I’m compelled to let them go as well but I’m still just not sure. Are they worth it???? 😵

At least I, for sure, got rid of 9 books. The other 3 that I’m keeping might drop off the TBR one day as well. Just not today, I guess. Since it’s spring I might try to do one of these posts per week until summer. Is it possible for an elusive blogger such as myself to keep to a schedule? Guess we’ll find out on the next episode of “Will She or Won’t She Be Back!”

That’s all for now. Thanks so much for stopping by!
