It’s that time again, friends.
Down the TBR Hole is a weekly book meme created by the wonderful Lia @ Lost in a Story that attempts to organize our ridiculously long Goodreads TBR list by choosing either to keep or eliminate the books weโve saved on there.

I’ve been doing some amazing backlist reading lately! I’m hoping that I’ll eventually come across books that have been on my to-read list since forever. That sense of accomplishment is unmatched, I tell you.

Books to Go:
- Iron Cast | Destiny Sora | Reason: Lost interest
- Nevernight | Jay Kristoff | Reason: Plot sounds familiar and a bit..boring?
- The Thousandth Floor | Katharine McGee | Reason: DNFd a couple years ago
- It Ends With Us | Colleen Hoover | Reason: Not my preferred genre
- Bridge to Terbithia | Katherine Paterson | Reason: Finally read
- Carve the Mark | Veronica Roth | Reason: Put off by the negative buzz
- The Paper Magician | Charlie N. Holmberg | Reason: Lost interest; mixed reviews
Books to Keep:
- The Demon King | Cinda Williams Chima | Reason: High fantasy; male protagonist
- P.S. I Like You | Kasie West | Reason: Need more contemporary romances on my TBR
- Kids of Appetite | David Arnold | Reason: Interesting blurb; out of my comfort zone
- The Winnerโs Curse | Marie Rutkoski | Reason: Seems interesting enough
- Three Dark Crowns | Kendare Blake | Reason: Drawn by the former hype
Totals
GO: 7
KEEP: 5
Thanks for stopping by! Until next time ๐

I was also definitely put off of Carve the Mark by the negative buzz. Even though it’s totally warranted and I don’t want to read something problematic, I was a bit disappointed since Divergent is what got me into reading. I was really hoping to have another good Veronica Roth read but now I think I may just call it a day and keep my good thoughts with Divergent haha. Great post ๐

Divergent was a sensation back then. Got so many people reading. I think it’s okay to let Divergent remain the one and only from Roth haha. I recently read it, and really enjoyed it too, so I’m a little bummed about Carve the Mark as well. But that’s okay. We’ll always have Divergent ๐ Thanks so much!

Itโs always good to do a TBR clean up. Iโm definitely due for one soon. I have to say though, Iโm a little bit heartbroken that Nevernight is going because I adore that series.
I also thought about reading Carve the Mark but the bad buzz put me off too. Hope the rest of your keepers are good!

Going through the TBR list not only cleanses your future reads, but also cleanses the soul LOL. Nevernight was the hardest one to let go since I like Kristoff’s work (when he’s teaming up with Kaufman) but the premise just didn’t quite make it for me. Maybe someday it’ll hop back on the list though!
I hope so too! Thanks so much ๐

It’s definitely a soul cleansing experience, haha.
That’s okay, I know it’s not for everyone but maybe someday! ๐

I always love reading this feature but too lazy to actually do it myself haha. I’ve removed The Thousandth Floor and Carve the Mark from my TBR too since I admit I added it to my TBR in the first place because of the hype.

Sometimes hype will do that to you. But wait a bit, let the buzz die down, and then you’ll see what you’ve got in the end. I’ve been disappointed by a lot of hype books, so I’m actually happy I waited on Carve the Mark haha.

I really enjoyed Three Dark Crowns, I hope you do too! โค And I recently asked on Twitter if I should keep my copy of The Winner's Curse and the answer was yes, so I should probably try to read it soon ๐

I hope we both end up liking The Winner’s Curse! I recently bought a copy but never know when I’ll get to it haha. Hopefully before the end of this year.

If you do get it soon, let me know, we could totally read it together if you’d want that ๐
