April 2020 TBR | Getting Rid of Those Backlist Fantasy Books

Hello beautiful people!

Last month’s theme was Angels and Demons! I stuck with that theme for most of March until the very end. I decided not to read SJM’s Crescent City and instead dived into Kingdom of Back and Only Mostly Devastated. I just had to go with my mood and shift focus. Plus, they were both really enjoyable, so “No Ragrets.”

I took a look at my shelves to see what type of books have been sitting there a while and most of them seem to be those 400+ fantasy epics that probably have assassins and royals and some sort of Chosen One. Meaning, I’ve discovered my theme:

April 2020 TBR Theme: Epic Quests and Kingdoms

Possible Reads

These somewhat fit into the theme but since I just got them and I’d like to focus on my backlist books, I may end up saving these for later. However, I’ve got a lot of time on my hands, so I’ll just keep these in mind.

Reread?

I’m not sure if I’ll actually be doing a reread this month since I’m reading so many large fantasy books. If I were to do a reread that fit the theme, then I would reread this one. I’ve already read this, like, three times but four times can’t hurt. But we’ll see if I tire by the end of my main TBR and might need a break.

If I Need a Break From the Theme

I’ve really been wanting to get to Docile but I wanna try to stick to my themes each month. Still, I know I may need a small break from fantasy and Docile alone with Animal Farm might be the perfect fixes. If I don’t get to them, I can always save them for another month/theme.

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time ❤

    1. Happy April! ❤ It's a little strange to be doing a TBR list again. I stopped using a TBR for 2ish years and just let my mood decide everything. But this year, I wanted to minimize my backlist and read the unread books in my library. Without a list, I don't think I could manage it 😂

  1. Ahh this is a lovely TBR! I also need to read A Reaper at the Gates, but… I don’t know if I’m emotionally ready for it just yet ahaha 🙂
    happy reading! 🙂

    1. It’s been a long while since I read the Ember in the Ashes series. I mostly remember that it’s heartbreaking lol. So I guess we’ll see how this goes!
      Thank you! ❤
