I might as well call September my Top 5 Wednesday month, because those were half of my posts. The other half were a review compilation of contemporary reads, a middle-grade contemporary review, a writing post, and a reading update. Meaning, I posted 8 times this month! Which is a massive improvement over August in which I had posted an impressive 2 times 😏
UNENCHANTED: AN UNFORTUNATE FAIRY TALE | Chanda Hahn
This was a reread for me. I read this one all the way back in 2013 and had suddenly gotten the urge to read it again this month. I’m glad I did because I learned that it’s the type of book I can enjoy several times over.
TIGHT | Torrey Maldonado
I had received this book as an ARC in honor of a blog tour. And I’m so glad I did because I thought the book was fantastic. Even better than expected. The characters are relatable, the situations are familiar, and the messages hold weight.
THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN | Holly Black
I love Holly Black. Her writing style is poetic. But sometimes I think her poetic nature can get in the way of telling a good story. This was my second audiobook attempt and I thought it went well, I just wish the plot and characters had been more entertaining.
TRULY DEVIOUS | Maureen Johnson
I’d been dying to read a mystery and so I finally picked up Truly Devious. I freaking loved it! The pacing was pretty good and the way some parts of the case were revealed was very clever. Also, the characters are wonderfully quirky.
ESCAPING FROM HOUDINI | Kerri Maniscalco
For me, I thought this book was good but not as great as the two previous installments. The way the case unraveled was too predictable and formulaic, the clues weren’t as finely embedded, and the romance between Thomas and Audrey Rose was interrupted by an unnecessary/cliché love triangle.

1. I went to the new Hello Kitty Cafe at the Irvine Spectrum with my friend Lala. We had initially gone to just buy one treat and to see what the café looks like, but when we saw someone walking out of a “secret” back room, we got curious. Next thing we know, we’re enjoying afternoon tea with adorable decór and even more adorable mini treats.
2. I finally managed to read a new book release DURING the month that it was released.
3. I managed to maintain a semi-steady blogging schedule. I even managed to do some blog-hopping!!
1. Catch up on my reviews. I didn’t do so well in writing those reviews I had been meaning to write so it’d be great if I could get them all out of the way this month and to finally stay on top of things.
2. Find more storage for my books. I’m running out of room. Either I need to get rid of some books, or I need to start looking for alternate storage options. Otherwise, there will be a few books sitting on my floor in stacks until I get a bigger place to live…
3. Prepare for Halloween Horror Nights!!!!!!!
4. Work out possible blog redesign. Or at least consider new small graphics that fit my floral theme.
That’s all for now! Thanks so much for stopping by. Until next time ❤

Oh Unenchanted is a book I read a few years ago, I actually read the whole series a little while back, and really enjoyed it. I feel like it’s the kind of book I could enjoy again as well, so maybe it’s time I re-read it. 😀
I really need to get around to Kerri Maniscalco’s books, they really sound like the kind of books I’d love so honestly I no excuse not to have gotten around to them yet. Also I’ve been hearing so much about Sadie, you’ll have to let me know what you think when you get around to it because I kind of need to know whether it’s a book I should check out myself too.
Great recap, good luck with your goals for next month Azia, and I hope you have an amazing October as well. 🙂 ❤

The Hello Kitty café looks so lovely, I wanna goooo haha And I haven’t read Escape from Houdini buuut I’ve heard plenty of times it’s not as good as the previous books. That’s really disheartening to hear, since I really liked the first book and was excited to keep reading /: Great post, Azia!

It was adorable! I hope you make your way to one some day 😀 And yeah, it was a little disappointing to read something that wasn’t as grand or well-plotted as the other books, but it’s still a pretty good book in general. So there’s still that haha. I hope you enjoy it though, once/if you get around to it! Thanks Marta! ❤
