After talking with my friend last week, I’m determined to read these two books:
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson and Scythe by Neal Shusterman. I’ve heard amazing things about both of these books, so they’re definitely at the top of my TBR. I still don’t have a set TBR for this month, but I promised my friend I’d read these two soon. So I will!
Spontaneous | Aaron Starmer
Mini Review: I don’t really know what to make of this book. The beginning was explosive (literally), the writing was compelling, and the MC was confusingly fun and relatable while also being terribly flawed and questionably hopeless as a sympathetic character. This book is strange and fearlessly quirky, but the story loses steam after a few chapters. The ending was enjoyable, though. I found it to be insightful and deeply evocative but I don’t think it was enough to save the book as a whole.
When the Moon Was Ours | Anna-Marie McLemore
After reading a few rave reviews, and after being convinced by my blogger friend, Beth, I’ve finally decided to pick this book up. I’m only a few pages in, but I already love the writing, the diverse characters, and the dynamic relationships. Magical realism is new to me, but I think I could learn to like it 😀There are so many books that I want to read this month, but I just won’t have the time to. My next read may be Scythe. However, I currently picked up a book called The Spy by Paulo Coelho.
I haven’t read any reviews on it, but the cover is beautiful and I’m intrigued by espionage. So, it might be my next read, especially because it’s pretty short.
If I don’t read The Spy then I’ll probably pick up Scythe and then I’ll Give You the Sun. If I’m not in the mood for either one of those books, then I’ll probably turn my attention to my ARCs that are archived by next month.
The Dark Intercept | Julia Keller
“The State controls your emotions. What would you pay to feel free?
In a radiant world of endless summer, the Intercept keeps the peace. Violet Crowley, the sixteen-year-old daughter of New Earth’s Founding Father, has spent her life in comfort and safety. Her days are easy thanks to the Intercept, a crime-prevention device that monitors and provokes emotion. But when her long-time crush, Danny Mayhew, gets into a dangerous altercation on Old Earth, Violet launches a secret investigation to find out what he’s hiding. An investigation that will lead her to question everything she’s ever known about Danny, her father, and the power of the Intercept.”
Frankie | Shivaun Piozza
“Frankie Vega is angry. Just ask the guy whose nose she broke. Or the cop investigating the burglary she witnessed, or her cheating ex-boyfriend or her aunt who’s tired of giving second chances…When a kid shows up claiming to be Frankie’s half brother, it opens the door to a past she doesn’t want to remember. And when that kid goes missing, the only person willing to help is a boy with stupidly blue eyes … and secrets of his own. Frankie’s search for the truth might change her life, or cost her everything.”
Here are some other books I might turn my attention to this month:
I’ll most likely get around to reading only about 4 or 5 books this month, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where my mood takes me! I’m excited to read ALL of them 😀 Which ones do you think I should read this month?
Thanks for stopping by by and I’ll talk to you soon! ❤
