I think it’s high time I take a gander at my TBR shelf. It’s looking a little crowded again!
Down the TBR Hole is a weekly book meme created by the wonderful Lia @ Lost in a Story that attempts to organize our ridiculously long Goodreads TBR list by choosing either to keep or eliminate the books we’ve kept on there for YEARS.
The Books:
Trigger Warning | Neil Gaiman
I believe this was my attempt at adding variety to my reading list. Even though I’m really interested in reading Neil Gaiman’s works, I’m not sure this is the best place to start. I know Gaiman has more well-known works and I think it would be best if I read a novel of his rather than an anthology of short stories. Also, I’m more interested in reading American Gods, as I’ve heard many great things about it. I think for now, I can hold off on this one. The judgement:
Go
Magic Shifts (Kate Daniels, #8) | Ilona Andrews
I’m not sure where this one came from. I mean, it’s the EIGTH book in a series I have never read. While I’m still interested in the concept of shape-shifters, and there are pretty good reviews for this particular book, I may never get around to reading this series. There’s just too many good books I need to catch up on. The judgement:
Go
The Aeronaut’s Windlass (The Cinder Spires, #1) | Jim Butcher
I’ve read one book by Jim Butcher and really enjoyed it. But I think it was a different series of his. The Dresden Files, I think it was called. I’d prefer to continue on with that series instead of starting this one. The premise to this one sounds intriguing, but I’d rather start what I finished a year ago. The judgement:
Go
The Buried Giant | Kazuo Ishiguro
I put this one on my list because T.C. Boyle recommended it to me after reading an excerpt from my novel. And while I’m grateful to T.C. for putting this book forth, I’m not sure it’s something I’d ever get around to reading. I know there are quite a few things about this book, but the mixed reviews have effectively scared me away from trying it out. The judgement:
Go
Confess| Colleen Hoover
I’ve been meaning to read something by Colleen Hoover for a while now and many people have recommended Ugly Love to me. I plan on reading that one first but I also plan on reading this one. The reviews are fairly positive and the premise has my attention. The judgement:
Keep
What’d you think of my choices? Do you know any of the books I listed? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for stopping by! See ya soon ❤
Good job!! 🙌🙌🙌

You’re doing quite a good job at clearing down your TBR list Azia. 😀 I have some of Neil Gaiman’s books on my to-read list, and I’ll be keeping them there because I’ve loved the ones of his I’ve read before and one day I’ll get around to the rest of them! Also I really love the Kate Daniels books but yeah if you’re no longer interested it doesn’t make much sense to keep the eighth on your TBR list. Just wondering did you have the previous seven on your TBR or was it just book eight. 🙂
I need to get around to Colleen Hoover’s books at some point. I’ve heard amazing things but at the moment they’re just sitting on my TBR list. 🙂

Thank you! I think so, too 😀 It’s nice to get quite a few books off there, especially ones I know I probably won’t pick up anytime soon. It’s good to hear that you’ve liked some of Gaiman’s books. Which ones have you read so far? And I haven’t read a single book by Kate Daniels, although some of the reviews I’ve read tell me that she’s very good. For some reason I added the 8th book instead of the 1st, although I’m not entirely sure if I’d ever manage to get around to reading her books
I have so many other books on my TBR!
Me and you both! Hopefully we can get to one of her books sometime this summer/year! 😀

That’s all right! 😀 Yeah it always feels good when I manage to clear books off my TBR list that I know I’m never going to get around to. Oh quite a few, pretty much all except Coraline, American Gods and The Graveyard Book. The Kate Daniels series is a good one, but there are a fair few books already released so you’d need to dedicate a fair bit of time to reading them all.
Fingers crossed right? 🙂 ❤

Oh my god that’s right, he did write Coraline, didn’t he?! Wow, completely forgot about that one. I love the movie so I’ll have to get around to reading that one some day. His other books too! And okay! Maybe I’ll make a month of reading all her books sometimes this year or the next. I’ll marathon them LOL
Most definitely! 😀💕

Yeah I always seem to forget he wrote that one too, I haven’t even seen the movie either so I figured I should read the book first at least.
Marathon-ing that series would be a great way to go, I don’t think you’d regret it Azia! 😀 ❤

The movie is wonderful! In a dark slightly disturbing way lol. But I loved that sort of stuff, so it was right up my alley 😀 I hope you like it if you do ever decide to watch it!
And wouldn’t it? I’m definitely gonna do it, then! 😀

I enjoy that sort of stuff as well, as long as it’s not too creepy that is. 🙂 Thanks Azia, I hope so too.

Is it hard for you to let go of some books?

I thought it would be, but once I look at the premise and let myself really think about the possibility of it being read soon, it becomes easy to eliminate them off the list. Letting go of books on you TBR is such a great feeling haha 🙂

How many do you have now?

245 now. I’ve taken books off my TBR but I’ve also been adding so the number isn’t really going down all that much LOL XD

That total is still manageable.. and I’m guessing you are removing some off every week though right? 🙂

Yup! Trying to keep the list up to date as frequently as possible now 🙂
