TBR of the Week | What’s Up Next on My TBR List?

Now that school’s out (forever), I now have more than enough time to read and catch up on some blogging. I’ve only had time to make a post here and there but my blog hopping has been near non-existent. So, that’s my main goal this week.

I’ll be pumping out reviews this week to catch up and I’ll also be visiting and leaving comments. To focus on this, my TBR for this week will be small.

Just Finished

12558285

I had slowly been reading this one whenever I returned home for the weekend during school (which wasn’t often…). I started about a month or two ago and I finally sat down and read through the whole thing last night!

Initial Thoughts: LOVE the dark spin on my favorite classic tale, Alice in Wonderland. The imagery is fantastic. The essence of nonsense is captured well. Not sure how I feel about the characters; do I love them? Or hate them? Or both? Probably 3.5 stars.

What I Plan on Reading This Week

27190613

I’m still working my way through this one. Not sure if it’s a bad thing or a good thing, because when I’m reading this book, I enjoy it, but when I put it down, I don’t have a pressing need to pick it up again…Regardless, I’ll finish it by the end of this week.

Both these books come out tomorrow and I’m really excited to read them. I’ll probably read The Love Interest first, because I need a change of pace from fantasy, and then I’ll most likely start and finish Flame in the Mist by the end of this week or the beginning of the next!

Three books (more like 2 and a half) should be enough for this week. Hopefully I can start getting caught up with my reviews and blog hopping. There’s so much to do and I finally have the time to do it all.

Thanks for stopping by ❤ I’ll see you guys soon!

    1. Well, I would probably give it 3 to 3.5 stars, so I liked it well enough. I don’t think I was that crazy about the characters. But I liked the dark twist

  1. I LOVE AND I DARKEN! It’s my favorite ya historical fiction book. I hope you like it more as you read it. Flame in the Mist is on my tbr as well, the concept sounds great and I can’t wait to read it. I enjoyed Splintered but not nearly as much as I thought I would.

    1. It’s only one of the few YA historical books I’ve read and I’m really enjoying it so far, I think haha. I’m glad you loved it! Flame in the Mist sounds extremely promising 😀 And yeah! Glad I’m not the only one that didn’t enjoy Splintered as much as I thought I would 🙂

  2. Oh that’s a shame you weren’t too crazy about the Splintered characters, but then again looking back at the book I doubt I’d be too crazy about them myself. I did love the dark setting, and the twist on the Alice in Wonderland story.
I am so so excited to get my hands on The Love Interest. I’m pretty much counting down the days until its release so I really hope you enjoy that one Azia! 😀

    1. That’s okay! Splintered was a pretty fun and quick read but I really had a problem with the characters. I suppose I liked Morpheus the best but even he made me dislike him more than once throughout the book. But the dark twist was fantastic.
I hope you do too! 🙂

      1. Yeah. I’m actually really curious to see how the story goes on in the next book. I hope i get to see Morpheus again. Hopefully, he can redeem himself lol

      2. Lol, thanks for not spoiling it for me! I’ll order the next books soon. I’m definitely planning on getting to them sometime this summer!

  3. I’m really interested in The Love Interest’s plot! Even though it reeks of a love triangle, it’s interesting to get the guys’ perspective for once ^^ So I’m hoping to read it soon too. I haven’t read any of the others yet but I already have them on my TBR.
    Great post, Azia!

  4. Awsome TBR!
I heard great things about And I Darken and I am going to read it in some time too (still waiting for my order) and I am super excited for The Love Interest and Flame in the Mist! Unfortunately, I don’t have any of those yet >.<
I never read Splintered and I can't really say that it's up on my TBR list… But I love the covers!!

    1. I just finished And I Darken and I really enjoyed it! Even though it had its flaws, I still thought it was really well-done for a YA historical fiction piece 😀
And I just received The Love Interest and Flame in the Mist. I’m excited to crack them open because I’ve heard good things about them!
And Splintered was good but I think it’s a book that can wait around a bit longer haha. I agree, the covers are pretty! 🙂

      1. I don’t go much for historical fiction but it seems so interesting! Plus I love the covers >.<
I'm jealous! I really hope you enjoy them and can't wait to read your thoughts on them!! ^^

      2. I don’t usually read historical fiction either, but the cover is so striking and the concept of gender-swapping Vlad the Impaler (A.K.A. Dracula) is really well-done. There’s quite a bit to like about it 😀
Thank you! I hope so too!

  5. Good to know that you don’t enjoy And I Darken. I have it checked out from the library now but since I’m behind on ARCs, I haven’t decided on reading it yet. The cover is so pretty though haha

    1. I just finished And I Darken and I actually enjoyed it more towards the end. It closed out strong so I’m really looking forwards to the sequel! The cover is absolutely gorgeous. The second cover is just as stunning too!

      1. I’m not sure if I will have the patience to wait for the goods until the end.. hehe.. I guess I will wait to read those books. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts on the book 🙂

      2. Of course! I’ll be writing a review for it soon! After giving myself time to digest the story, I’m thinking my review will be mostly positive! 😀 But yeah, it’s one that can wait on the shelves for a bit. No rush ❤

  6. That sucks about the Splintered and the characters. That one’s been on my TBR for a while and I enjoyed that book RoseBlood that’s by the same author. Might have to go in with lower expectations whenever I do read it now. I can’t wait to see what you end up thinking about The Love Interest and Flame in the Mist!! 😊

    1. That’s all right! The characters may not be up to standard right now, but I’ve heard they get better in the next two books, especially Morpheus and Alyssa! So I’m looking forward to that. And I just read The Love Interest. It’s so amusing. Satire. Satire everywhere *Insert Buzz Lightyear meme here* I loved that part about it! Gonna get to Flame in the Mist later this week, probably Friday or Saturday!

      1. That’s good to hear! I’ll keep that in mind too because I’m one of those terribly impatient readers who, when the characters aren’t so great in the first book, tends to not want to pick up the second one. 😂🙈 And I’ve been hearing that about The Love Interest. I read Lilly’s review and she talked about how much it plays on tropes. Seems like a funny read for sure. I might have to pick it up after LoS if I can get a copy. I have feeling I’ll need a humorous book. Hope you enjoy Flame in the Mist! 😊

      2. Eh that’s probably saved you a lot of trouble tbh! I’ve been dragging myself through Glass Sword these past few months and I’m still not finished, mostly because I can’t stand Mare anymore 😓 I hope you enjoy The Love Interest and I haven’t started Flame just yet! I’m thinking of reading it by the end of tomorrow 😀 Fingers crossed! I’m sure it’ll be fantastic 🙂

      3. I feel the same exact way. I mean…I bought the third book but I’m afraid I might never get to it if I can’t work up the motivation to finish Glass Sword lol. But I heard Kings Cage was much better!
