Book Tag | The Narnia Tag

Quite a while back, Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros nominated me to do this wonderful tag. Go on and check out Sammie’s fabulous post and blog. She’s an incredible person and a fantastically talented blogger!

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was one of my all-time favorite stories when I was younger, and so I’m really excited to be doing this post. I mean, who doesn’t love the idea of traveling through a wardrobe to discover a magical land?

NARNIA – A magical world you would like to visit

Well, I guess it would defeat the purpose to say Narnia, wouldn’t it? I’ll have to go with this one then:

Zodiac | Romina Russel

zodiac

Even though I truly (TRULY) did not care for this book, the world the author built is wholly original and absolutely astounding. This galactic world/ecosystem is the only way I would live among the stars.

THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW – A book you think is underrated

*Whips one of my favorite books out of my back pocket*

Promise of the Wolves | Dorothy Hearst

6621669

This book is absolutely amazing. It’s about wolves. Not werewolves. But wolves. The author conducted extremely thorough research to bring you a fantastically well-written story surrounding a pack of wolves in a time when men and nature shared the same land and kept their boundaries, about 14,000 years ago. All I can say is you must give this book a try. You will not regret it.

THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE – A classic that you love

*Whips my all-time favorite classic out of my back pocket, off my shelf, and out of my e-reader because you best believe I have more than one copy of it*

Wuthering Heights | Emily Brontë

6185

You guys, I love this book. And I know there are a lot of people out there who hate this book (and don’t get me wrong, I can definitely see why), but Wuthering Heights is a dark, unromantic romance that I can’t get enough of.

THE HORSE AND HIS BOY – A book you picked up without knowing what it was about

Captive Prince | C.S. Pacat

captive-prince

My friend told me to read Captive Prince but didn’t tell me a thing about it, so I took a chance because I trusted her. I thought it would be about a young boy who was taken captive and maybe raised by some evil organization plotting against the monarchy. That is not what this book is about…

PRINCE CASPIAN – A sequel that you loved

A Court of Mist and Fury | Sarah J. Maas

ACOMAF

What can I say? This book is a freaking masterpiece. I painstakingly tried to avoid putting ACOMAF on here because I feel like I mention it too often, but it’s just too perfect to ignore.

THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER – A quest you’d like to be a part of

Tiger’s Curse series | Colleen Houck

13091999

This series had its fair share of issues, but the journey the characters embark upon is a memorable one, especially as it takes place in India. There’s magic, mystical lands (like Shangri-La), curses, and prophecies. If that doesn’t interest you, I don’t know what will.

THE SILVER CHAIR – A book you didn’t expect to love

Crown of Midnight | Sarah J. Maas

ToG 2

Throne of Glass was such a disappointment, I had to start reading this one with some severely lowered expectations, just to save myself from any more horrendous disappointment. I really did not expect to love this book as much as I did.

THE LAST BATTLE – A perfect ending to a series you love

A Clockwork Princess | Cassandra Clare

18335634

Cassie Clare really knows how to break a heart, but she did not tear my heart out with the Infernal Devices trilogy. Honestly, this ending was the best I could have hoped for. Bittersweet, just the way I like it.

THE PEVENSIES – A siblinghood of friendship you’d love to be a part of

Just like Sammie, I’ll have to go with:

The Blackthorns from Lady Midnight | Cassandra Clare

Lady Midnight

I simply adore the Blackthorn family. There’s a lot of them so it gets hella chaotic. They’re loud, messy, and just straight-up all over the place. But I love the bonds they share, so they’re definitely my top choice.

EUSTACE SCRUBB – A character who grew on you

There are a lot of characters that had to grow on me before I loved them, but my most recent one is:

Lila from A Darker Shade of Magic | V.E. Schwab

22055262

I’ll admit that I wasn’t that fond of Lila in the first few chapters of ADSOM. I thought she was annoying and ridiculously over-confident, but by the middle of the book, I fell in love with her tough, independent exterior and sweet, adventurous interior.

MR. TUMNUS – Your favourite mystical creature

Because I don’t have a favorite book that includes my favorite mystical creature, I’ll just post an awesome pic of one:

dragon-01

Dragons. Need I say more?

CASPIAN – A character with regal qualities

Nikolai Lantsov from the Grisha trilogy | Leigh Bardugo

Grisha 1

Nikolai is a fantastic leader! He’s socially intelligent, cheerful, stylistically flamboyant, and personable. He has the power to appeal to his people and is cunning in the game of politics. On top of all that, he’s a soldier and commander, and he is proficient with an assortment of weapons. AND he’s swoon-worthingly handsome!

THE WARDROBE – Your favourite hideout/place to read

pexels-photo-90317
Not an actual picture of my room, but a girl can dream, right?

I really do love my bedroom. It’s where all my books are, so it’s the perfect place to read!

  1. I love this tag! It’s so… Magical! (I’m sorry but there’s no other word for it XD )
I definitely need to check out Promise of the Wolves. I’m a bit obsessed with wolves and they’re my favorite animal. I also have a Goodreads shelf specifically for wolves hahaha So thanks for the rec!
AND ANOTHER WUTHERING HEIGHTS FAN! *highfive* I remember talking to you about this and being so happy we were on the same boat. I, too, know so many people who dislike it but I ADORE it. Despite admitting it has its issues, of course.
Crown of Midnight was probably my favorite in the whole series ❤ I definitely had the same opinion about Lila at first. She just didn't appeal to me at all. But then! Wow.
And Nikolai!! ❤ ❤ ❤ I totally wouldn't want to date him but I just love the idea of him hahaha Would probably be a wonderful friend and also give the best parties.
Great answers, Azia! I've also been tagged so I can't wait to do this one ^^

    1. Magical is the perfect word for it lol. Wolves are the best. Such amazing creatures. I think you’ll love Promise of the Wolves then. It can be slow in some places but it is really interesting overall.
And it does have its issues but it has so much dark charm, I can’t ever see myself disliking it 🙂 So happy you love it so much too!
I hope Heir of Fire is just as interesting as CoM! And yeah, it took me a while to like Lila but I think I just misunderstood her character in the beginning!
Oh no, I would never date him (too much a playa playa) but I think he’d be a great friend too haha
Thanks, Sophie! 💕 Can’t wait to see your answers 😁

  2. Fantastic tag! I super agree about Clockwork Princess. I totally thought there was no way that Clare would ever create a good ending for that series because how would she make everyone happy, but I feel like she did such a great job. Sad ending, but totally right. I was pleased. XD And lol to Captive Prince. XD That could have definitely been a bit different than what you were expecting. And I’m totalllllllllllly in agreement about ACOMAF. Wonderful answers, and I can’t wait to do it. Thanks so much for the tag. ❤

    1. Yeah, it was, I think, the best way to close out that series and love triangle lol. Captive Prince was a definite surprise and not particularly a pleasant one 😂 I liked the second book though!
Can’t wait to see your answers! 😀

  3. Great picks for this tag Azia, ❤ and I loved reading your answers for this one as well. ACOMAF was a sequel I loved, so so much more than the first book actually, but then again I guess most people feel that way about this book and this series. I also agree with you on Crown of Midnight, I knew the series got better with the second book but I still enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
Oh it's a shame you didn't like Lila when we were first introduced to her in ADSOM but I'm glad she eventually grew on you. Also the fact that you include two of Cassandra Clare's books in this tag have just made me all the more excited to get around to that series myself. I have the third three TMI books on my to-read list for next month! 😀 ❤

    1. Thanks Beth! 😁 And yeah, from what I can tell, the second book is the overall favorite so far. Let’s see if ACOWAR can suprass it lol.
I’m excited to see what Lila will do next. I think I disliked her at first because I didn’t fully understand her character. But later on, I finally caught on to what type of character she was!
I think you’ll really enjoy Clare’s books! They have their flaws, but the characters/relationship/world-building is top notch! Can’t wait to see what you think of TMI! 😉

      Liked by 1 person

      1. That’s all right! I’m pretty sure no matter how amazing ACOMAF was ACOWAR will be even better!
Yeah that makes sense, I think of all the characters in the Shades of Magic series Lila is the one most people seem to struggle with at the beginning.
Well I’ll be starting them next month so I’m excited to see what I do think of them as well! 😀

      2. I’ve started reading AGOS and Lila has definitely grown on me. I used to wish more for Kell’s sections, but I’m really enjoying her POV right now!
Yay!! I’ll be eagerly awaiting those reviews lol. Maybe I’ll reread them next month. Haven’t returned to that story in a long time! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. Yes that’s amazing to hear Azia! And I’m pretty sure you get more Kell a little while into the book (I haven’t read AGOS in a while so I can’t say for sure!)
They’ll be up pretty soon. If i stick to schedule sometime in the beginning of April-ish. 🙂

  4. This tag is so much fun, and I LOVED reading your answers. I am so embarrassed to admit that I’ve only read the first Narnia book, and that was when I was eight years old! Yikes. I’m going to get my book nerd card revoked! Thank you so much for including me!

  5. Yay! Thanks for tag. I’ve actually only read the first book but did enjoy the movies. Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian was perfect *sigh* I love your answers. I totally agree about Nikolai!! He’s so swoon worthy and amusing and brave. Ahhh…love that character to pieces. I’ve tried to get into Wuthering Heights but haven’t. I read it in school but don’t remember enjoying it. Anyway, thanks again for the tag. Can’t wait do to this one 🙂

    1. The only reason I started reading the books (only up to Prince Caspian) was because of the movies 😂 And yes, Ben Barnes as Caspian is just *SWOON* I love Nikolai! I really hope we get to see more of him in Bardugo’s future books 🙂 Wuthering Heights is really a hit or miss type of book lol. Hope you enjoy this one! Can’t wait to read your answers 🤗

  6. This tag has to be one of my favorites! It makes me want to go reread the Narnia books and then rewatch the movies. I’m completely with you on both ACOMAF and Wuthering Heights. Both of those are two of my favorites. I think Wuthering Heights was actually the first classic I voluntarily read and loved. Though it took me a little bit to get used to the writing style in the beginning and how heavily Emily Bronte incorporated the dialect at times. But once I got used to it I sort of fell in love with her writing style. And I agree about The Infernal Devices ending, it was so perfect. It did end up breaking my heart though because of Will. I cried a lot lol. And YES to Nickolai and Dragons! I can’t wait until you read AGOS because there’s this character that reminds me of Nickolai and I want to see if you agree. 😂😂 Anyway! Great answers for this, Azia! 😊💕

    1. I’m ashamed of myself lol. I haven’t finished the Narnia series. I stopped at book four, Prince Caspian, I think. And Wuthering Heights was the first classic I voluntarily read and loved too! 💕 Picked it up in 7th grade b/c it had a gorgeous red velvet cover and satin bookmark. I understood it really well the first time around and was so proud of myself! I think that’s also why I love it so much lol. The ending of TID was both sad and sweet, the perfect ending 🙂 OOOH yay! I just received AGOS in the mail and can’t wait to crack it open. I’m reading The Song of Achilles right now. I might get to AGOS by next weekend! I’ll let ya know my thoughts! 💖

      1. I think the main reason I picked up Wuthering Heights was because of Twilight and The Sky is Everywhere. When a main character in a book is really into a book it makes me want to read it. Which worked out with Wuthering Heights in the end since I loved it lol. 🙈 Definitely the perfect ending!
Are you liking The Song of Achilles so far? And definitely let me know your thoughts on AGOS. 😁

        Liked by 1 person

      2. The Sky is Everywhere. Not sure I’ve heard about that one. Is it good? And yeah, I become motivated to read a book a character seems to love too haha. And yes to a perfect ending! 😀
And Song of Achilles is FANTASTIC, but you’ve already seen that in my next post LOL. Anyways, I’m loving AGOS so far. Not that far into it (only about 40 pages) but I’m really loving the characters so far, especially Alucard! 😀

        Liked by 1 person

      3. It’s so good! It’s one of my top favorite YA contemporaries ever. It’s about this girl who is struggling with her sister’s death but it’s not completely heartbreaking. It has it’s funny moments, sad moments, and fangirling moments (because of the romance). And the main character’s family is the best! I think you would like it. 😊
YAY about AGOS! And I had a feeling you would like Alucard. So far he’s one of my favorites! He’s the one that reminds me of Nikolai. 🙈

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Awesome! I’ll be adding that one to my list then 😀
Oh he’s definitely got a Nikolai feel to him. And is it weird that I ship him with Rhy?? I have a feeling about him…I’m still not that far into the story but I definitely wanna see where Alucard ends up. And Kell and Lila thinking about each other is SO ADORABLE. I’M DYING ❤

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Yay! I’m glad I wasn’t imagining the Nikolai feels lol. And not weird at all because I ship him with Rhy too! I have a feeling about him too. He’s definitely hiding something… lol I’m not that far either, only around 30%. I’ve been reading it slow. RIGHT!? Every time Kell and Lila think about each other I’m fangirl central. I ship them way too much! 🙈

        Liked by 1 person

      6. Yaaay!! Glad we’re on the same page. If you’ve finished the book already, then you know what happens 😉 I love Lila and Kell together but oh boy Lila is a hard one to deal with LOL. Kell will have his hands full with that one haha

        Liked by 1 person

      7. I haven’t yet but hopefully I will within the next few days. I’m dying to know how it ends! But yes I love Lila and Kell too but completely agree (even though I haven’t finished AGOS yet I can just tell from what I’ve read so far lol).
