Mystery Blogger Award and Blogger Recognition Award 2.0

Quite a bit ago, the fabulous Abigail @ Miss Abigail nominated me for the Mystery Blogger award and the wonderful Jamie @ Book Pandamonium nominated me for the Blogger Recognition award. Because I am hilariously behind on all my awards and tags, I’ll be combining these two!

If you haven’t already, please check our Miss Abigail’s blog! She has a gorgeous design with some amazing life tips and bookish content I think you’d all enjoy. And while you’re at it, visit Jamie’s wonderful site, too! She’s got some great book reviews, tags, and really interesting bookish content! Also –> pandas!! 😀

3 Things About Myself

1. I wear two different colored Converse almost every day. I’ve been doing this since middle school!

2. I love to watch cake-making videos even though I don’t EVER try to make the cakes myself.

3. Sometimes I draw black and white versions of deviantart images!

Abigail’s Questions

1.What’s one thing, that authors do, that you can’t stand?

When they drop too many hints or clues. I like ambiguity and I love solving puzzles, so it irks me when the author so obviously guides me to a certain conclusion.

2.Where is your favourite place to read?

There’s no place like my bed. I like reading at cafés, too!

3. What is your reading beverage/snack of choice?

I love having a cup of tea (usually black or earl grey) with my books. Some biscotti cookies doesn’t hurt either.

4. What do you read most, ebooks, audiobooks, paperbacks, hardbacks… or some other form of book that I’ve missed?!

I read mostly hardbacks now. But I also read paperbacks, especially when that hardback is just too expensive.

5. Random question: Do you wear socks while you sleep, or do you go barefoot?

Nope! When I was little I always woke up one sock short. I always thought the bed was eating my socks and to some degree, I still believe that lol.

My Nominees

Shouni @ Through the Book Portal

Rakel @ MiRakel Books

Krysti @ YA and Wine

Laura @ Reading Sanctuary

Tiana @ The Book Raven

*I tried nominating people I hadn’t chosen when I had done this award the firs time around. If you’ve already been nominated, congratulations! I think you guys are awesome! You don’t have to do this one if you don’t want to, of course 😀

My Questions:
  1. Do you have a favorite YA trope that you love (or maybe even tolerate) more than others?
  2. How often do you buy books?
  3. Do you take off the book jackets while you’re reading or do you leave them on?
  4. Besides WordPress, where do you go to find recommendations for new books?
  5. Random Question: If it were possible, which movie (or TV show) would you transport yourself into to be part of the cast?

The Rules:
  • Write a post to show your award

The Story (Because I’ve already done this, I’ll keep it short!)

I came back from Ireland last summer and wanted to share my photo album. I also wanted to share my writing, so I began The Uncharted Word. However, I noticed I’d been doing a lot of reading over the summer and thought, ah what the heck, let’s start a book blog. About 7 months later (has it already been that long?!), and here I am, a bookish blog with the occasional travel pic and work in progress.

Two Pieces of Advice

1. Blog Hop!

It’s a great way to meet new bloggers, to discover more topics of interest, and to start a discussion. Posting your own content is wonderful, but be sure to visit your fellow bloggers’ sites and to show your support as they work hard to share their passions with you!

2. Don’t Be Afraid to Take a Break

Having a brand and a scheduling of weekly memes is a perfect way to set and maintain your foundations. But don’t be afraid to give yourself time for some R&R. Sometimes it’s easy to get burned out, and you know what? That’s okay. Take a breather. Watch some TV. Read books without reviewing them. Contemplate life. And return when you’re ready. We’ll still be here to support you when you get back!

My Nominees

Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros

Melissa @ BookNerdMomo

Sophie @ Blame Chocolate

Beth @ Reading Every Night

Lia @ Lost in a Story

*I know you guys have probably already been nominated for this award, but just letting you know I appreciate you and I think you all are not just fantastic bloggers, but fantastic people, too! ❤

That’s all for now! Sorry it took me so long to get to these you guys!!

See ya soon! ❤

  1. Thank you so much for nominating me 😀 Great answers. I like to watch cake videos too, but I never bake. Can count on one hand how many times I have made a cake. I like to watch them, because I love the decoration.

    1. No worries! ❤
And thank you! I haven't make many cakes either, even though I love to bake. I watch the videos for motivation haha. I love watching those videos for the decorations, too! Some of those bakers can do amazing things 😀

    1. Thank you! At first I felt self-conscious about it, but it’s become an important part of my style now haha. Glad I made that choice! And thank you! ❤
Of course! You definitely deserve it 😀

  3. THANK YOU so much for the nomination! Congratulations on being nominated for the awards! Those are two very good tips. I need to get better at blog hopping and find some new blogs to follow. I need to take the “take a break” advice too, I feel really guilty whenever I go a long time without posting anything which shouldn’t happen because we blog because it’s fun, right? Also, I love your questions. I’ll try to post this soon!

    1. Of course! 😀 And thank you! And don’t worry, I need to get much better at blog hopping too 🙂 I’ve been taking a break and not posting anything or even looking at wordpress, so my blog hopping has been tragic haha. But yeah! Blogging should be fun so it’s okay to take a break once in a while. I hope you have fun answering the questions. Can’t wait to see your answers!

  4. Thanks so much for the nomination Azia, I have already done this tag though but seriously thanks so much for thinking of me for this one.
This is great advice as well. I think blog hopping, and commenting as well, is a very important part of blogging on WordPress, reaching out to the community and all. 🙂
Also I love watching cake-making (actually any food-making) videos. I never really attempt them myself but I guess there’s just something about seeing the start to end process that’s always kind of fun! 😀 ❤

    1. No worries! And thanks for stopping by so often, Beth! It really means a lot to me ❤ And reaching out is such a great way to discover new blogs, to meet new friends, and to just simply keep in touch. I have so much blog hopping to do haha. I've been away for a bit too long!
I watch food/cake making videos so often, I'm starting to think it's an unhealthy obsession. I agree that there's just something so satisfying about seeing the whole process, from start to finish 😀 ❤ xx

      1. That’s all right, I love seeing your posts so I always stop by when I see a new one in my Reader feed. 😀 ❤
I have a bit of blog hopping to do, I want to try and discover some new blogs I'm not yet following so that's next on my list. It's a great way to connect with people isn't it?
There is, and it would never look as nice if you tried to make it yourself but you can always imagine can't you? 😀

      2. ❤ ❤
It really is. And hopefully I can do some serious blog hopping this week to discover more blogs and meet more people!
Ah you never know! You might be a world class baker of macaroons LOL 😉

  5. Thanks so much for the nomination, Azia!! 💕 I’ve actually done the blogger recognition post before but I loved reading about how your blog started and your advice. Blog hopping is definitely a great way to connect with other bloggers and I agree that sometimes you just have to take breaks. I’ve been feeling burned out myself lately and haven’t been posting much but have been blog hopping a lot. 🙈

    1. Of course! 😀 And thank you! I definitely need to follow my first piece of advice, though. I have so much blog hopping to do! I’ve been away for far too long. It’s great that you’ve still managed to do some blog hopping. And it’s always great to take a break, if even for a few days or a couple of weeks. It’ll rejuvenate you, for sure haha

      1. You’re welcome!! And as a rule of thumb when I’ve been gone for a while I just try to go through a few recent post on blogs while blog hopping rather than trying to catch up on every post. Less stressful that way. 😊
Definitely. Breaks can be a great thing. And I’m thinking I need a reviewing break more than anything. I’ve started dreading writing reviews which is never good.

        Liked by 1 person

      2. Yeah that’s probably a better way of going about it. I went through all of the posts I missed for Beth and Ava, and thought I was gonna die so I’m just doing the recent posts now.
Uh oh! I know that feeling. A reviewing break is always a good choice. Sometimes just reading a book for no other reason is so freeing lol

        Liked by 1 person

    1. No problem! 😀 And it certainly is. Just take a breather and let yourself relax for however long you need. It’s nice to take that break if it’s really needed!

  6. Congratulations on your awards, Azia! They couldn’t be more fitting 🙂
Ugh, I hate when authors do that, too! I feel like telling them “have some mystery, people!” XD I always wake up without socks, but I think it’s because I take them off during the night. Good luck finding them in the morning though XD
Great post, Azia, and thank you so much for nominating me! My apologies for commenting so late but I just saw this buried under some fifty other notifications on my dashboard… Eek!
You’re so sweet and your words mean a lot! ❤ Thank you once again for the lovely nomination and even though I've already done this, I might do it again in the future 🙂 Keep up the wonderful work!

    1. Thanks so much, Sophie! 😀 ❤
Lol, glad I'm not the only one with the sock problem XD
And that's all right! I'm sooooo behind on all my tags and nominations. School had me all tied up. Hopefully we can sift through all those notifications and get it all straightened out sometime in our future lol
No problem! Thanks again, Sophie 🙂
