Updates | Still Reading, Not Reviewing Just Yet, & Lots of YouTube

This is just a “quick” announcement to let y’all know that I haven’t overcome my reviewing slump, but I’ve still been reading, albeit slowly. I’m nearly finished with Throne of Glass, and once Caraval arrives, I’m hoping to return to my reading habits full force.

Lately, I’ve been eyeing my recent buy, A List of Cages, and so that might be my next read instead of Caraval. Although, who knows? Once I get Caraval in my hands, I might not be able to put it off for much longer.

So that’s what’s happening in my reading life right now. As for reviewing, I’ve decided that I will not be writing full or mini reviews for the Wolves of Mercy Falls series or Nightshade. They were all fairly average books and I don’t feel like trying to carve out time to write a less than rave (or rant) review.

I might push out a reflection on the Wolves of Mercy Falls series as a whole (since I liked it for the most part), but Nightshade will fly under the radar for now. I wasn’t impressed with it (at all) and maybe one day I’ll write a flash review for it, but I don’t feel strongly enough to write a full review (or even a mini review) for Nightshade. Also, I barely remember a thing about it, so…there’s that, unfortunately.

Hopefully the next few books I read will encourage me to write some reviews, which will then spur me on to post reviews for Gemina and The Midnight Star in February!

P.S. I’m sorry if it’s taking me a while to respond to your comments and to leave comments on your posts, as well. I’ve been indulging a bit too much in Markiplier and PewDiePie videos. Also, I’ve been busy drawing and writing! But I promise to talk with you as soon as I can!

That’s all for now! Thanks for sticking around you guys! See ya very soon 😀

  1. If you’re struggling with reviews, you could try writing full reviews for like 2-3 books you really adored or have a lot to talk about, and then write mini reviews or bullet-pointed reviews for the others … It might help, I don’t know :/
I hope you get everything together again, I know how stressing being disorganized is haha

    1. It definitely might. I have the urge to write a full review for Caraval, which I’m reading now! It’s wonderful. The others I’ve read this past month and the last might be flash reviews 😀 Thanks, Marta! ❤

      1. I’m so glad you’re enjoying it, I’ve only heard good things about it so far. Can’t wait to read your thoughts 😀
        I’m glad I could help ❤

  2. Well even though you’re still struggling with reviews at least you’re not struggling with reading from the sounds of it. I hope you love Caraval. It’s an amazing book in my opinion and I’ll be interested to see what you think of it too, and while I haven’t read A List of Cages myself I’ve heard some great things about it, so much so that I’ve added it to my to-read list as well and hope to get around to it soon.
I hope your reviewing slump ends soon Azia! 🙂

    1. I’m about 3/4 of the way through Caraval and I absolutely LOVE it. The magic is a definite throwback to my time when I was reading The Night Circus 😀 And I’ve heard great things about A List of Cages, too! It’s definitely going to be my next read 😀
      Thank you, Beth! ❤

      1. Oh that is amazing to hear. I think I fell in love with the book and the story and the world from the first page. It was a throwback to The Night Circus for me as well and god did I love that book. I hope the last quarter is as good as the first three, and I hope you enjoy A List of Cages as well! 😀
        That’s all right. ❤

      2. I loved Caraval so much! The last part was intense! Really enjoyed it overall. And though I really wanted to read A List of Cages, I started reading Crown of Midnight instead! LOL. I’m bad at keeping to my reading list haha.

      3. Oh I’m glad to hear that about Caraval Azia, yes the last part was intense, I was pretty much glued to my copy! I have A List of Cages on my Kindle, hopefully I’ll get around to it soon, and I hope you enjoy Crown of Midnight as well. Don’t worry I’m bad at keeping to my reading lists as well! 😀

      4. I finally posted my review on Caraval and I just finished Crown of Midnight! I’m beginning to write a review on it. And let me tell you, I’m so glad so many bloggers kept encouraging me to continue the series. The second book is a ridiculously stunning improvement over the first! 😀

      5. I think it might be. I’m in the mood to review. Just gotta find the time to write the review now haha. And I REALLY enjoyed Crown of Midnight. Such an improvement over the first book!

      6. Definitely! Hopefully I can get to it tonight or tomorrow.
I hope so, too! I heard the third book is possibly the best, so I’m definitely looking forward to that 😀

      7. Hope you managed to catch up on those reviews and posts! I fell behind even more because of finals/midterms haha. Hopefully I can get it all back on track soon!
Ah okay! I’ve definitely heard some mixed reviews about the 5th one, but I’m excited to read it regardless 😀 Maas is definitely a skilled storyteller!

      8. I did actually, the amount of catching up I did this week is unbelievable for me. It’s a trend I’m trying to keep going for a little longer at least. 🙂
I was one of the people who loved the 5th one so I hope you do as well when you get around to it.

      9. Oh that’s great!! Glad you managed to get something done 😀 Its a great feeling when you’re all caught up or at least have cut down the to-do list!
        Thanks! Me too ❤

  3. I support your decision to not force yourself to write reviews you’re not interested in writing. Gotta save your energies for the good stuff! (Though you know I’d love anything you had to say, even if it was a two-sentence flash review.)

Do you remember enough of Nightshade to gauge whether it’d be a good choice for a future snark? What little I remember of it makes me think Yes, Probably, but I’d like a more informed opinion before I waste the half-hour going to the library for it.

Hurray for writing and drawing! Hope you’re pleased with your progress!

    1. Thanks so much, Liam! ❤ Haha, I'm tempted to do a 2 sentence review for some of them actually XD And I think Nightshade is the perfect breeding ground for snarky commentary. I was throwing out scalding comments every other page, if I remember correctly. I thought there was so much wrong with it. And the female protagonist (Calla?) is such a problem character, I think you'd have a blast breaking her down haha. Her AND her love interest. Only one of them though (Sam?). I liked Ren (?) for the most part (in this book at least).
I am! Both my drawing and writing are improving so much 😀 ❤

      1. Two-sentence reviews, yes please!

Oooh, good to know. I’ll add it to my maybe-to-snark list. (I’ll note that I love your question marks next everyone’s names; glad to know they’re such memorable characters!)

        Glad to hear it!

    1. Thanks Sammie! ❤ I'm actually working on a review for Caraval now! I'm so happy LOL. Although, I'm still overloading myself with YouTube videos at the same time, haha. And though I still don't like the first book, even less than I did the first time around, I've begun the second book (Only 30 pgs in) and it's already 10x better than the first! I'm so excited! 😀
