The 2016/2017 Book Tag

I’ve got a few book tags to catch up on and so I won’t be waiting until Tuesday to do some of them. This one almost slipped past my notice but I managed to come across it a few days ago!

This tag was created by David @ theguywhosaidalwaysno and I was tagged by the wonderful Sophie @ Blame Chocolate and if you haven’t already, go check out Sophie’s lovely blog. She’s got reviews on books, anime, video games, and so much more! Thanks so much for the tag, Sophie ❤

The Questions

Describe your 2016 in 3 words.

Exciting, life-changing, and memorable.

Write the name of 2 people that have characterized your 2016.

Just two people, huh? Well, I guess I’ll go with my friend Ana Flávia Albuquerque from France (who I met in Ireland and who I’ve been keeping in contact with by sending her a steady supply of memes on FB) and my other friend, Margaret Harris, who I roomed with during the winter semester. We went through hell together as we secretly went to war with the other roommate in the next room over. Dark times. Dark times…

Write the most beautiful place you’ve visited in 2016 and why you liked it so much.

Galway, I miss your emerald green fields and sturdy stone fences. I miss your friendly natives and small town vibe. I miss your endless number of pubs and cafés, your narrow roads, and cold blue river. I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I arrived in Ireland. I’d love to go back some day.

Write the most delicious food you’ve tasted in 2016.

That would be my Aunt Linda and cousin Heather’s Christmas day dinner. Nothing can or ever will compare to my Auntie’s sweet potato pie, fresh bread rolls, or collard greens. And nothing measures up to my cousin’s home-cooked mac n’cheese, honeyed ham, candied yams, or herb stuffing.

Write the event which has marked you the most in 2016 (even global event).

That would be Trump winning the election. My soul cries.

Write the finest purchase you made in 2016, and if you want, link a photo.

Of course I’m very happy with a great number of my book buys last year (i.e. Six of Crows, Lady Midnight, Illuminae) but there’s something else I’m really proud to have bought. I don’t know why, but I am really happy I got this really cool DC Comics canvas print.

Write 3 good intentions for 2017.

To write more short stories, to revise my second and third novels, and to find an internship or job that works with books and/or literacy.

Write 1 place you want to visit in 2017.

I’d love to visit New York City! My mom’s from Manhattan, so hopefully I can convince her to take my brother and me back to her hometown over the summer.

Write 1 plate/food you want to eat in 2017.

  1. Thanks so much for tagging me! Oh, my heart soared at your pictures of Galway. I haven’t been to Ireland in almost 5 years now and my soul misses that beautiful country. I’ve never felt more at peace anywhere else in the world. I also love that canvas print (I think my mom might already have that, but if not, I will have to find it for her. Biggest DC fan I know). Awesome answers 🙂

  3. Love this tag! Oh my GOD your photos of Galway are so beautiful. I’d love to explore more of Ireland sometimes – some of the countryside is so untouched and magical. Exciting, life-changing and memorable all sound like good things – I hope your 2017 is getting off to just as good a start! xx

    1. It’s a lovely tag! And thank you! It wasn’t too difficult to catch a good photo. Nearly every angle of Ireland’s rural landscape is so beautiful 😀 I think you and anyone who visits would fall in love with the countryside (and Galway City!) It holds a certain magic that settles in your heart. And thanks, Sammie! So, far it’s gone pretty well. I hope yours is too! 😊

  4. Great tag Azia, and a great way to look back over 2016 as well. Your photos of Galway are amazing, they’re making me want to hope on a plane and travel there right this second. Either way I’m definitely adding it to my ever growing to-visit list! Also I hope you manage to get to New York in 2017. I’ve been there once and it was a beyond amazing experience seeing the big city! 😀
I hope your 2017 is just as amazing and memorable as your 2016 seemed to be. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Beth! ❤ And I sincerely hope you manage to visit Ireland one day. It's such a gorgeous place, I'm sure you won't be disappointed! And I visited New York once, long ago when I was six or seven, so I'd love to return as a young woman and see it with new eyes and new motivations! 😊
Thanks so much! I hope yours is, too!! ❤

      1. That’s all right, and I do have Ireland on my must-visit list, you’ve just given me more of a destination than ‘Ireland’ to plan for! 😀 Wow that was quite a while back. I reckon your experience there will change a fair bit considering you’re older now.
That’s all right, and thanks Azia. 🙂

      2. I highly recommend Galway City, the Connemara, the Aran Islands (Inis Mor), Killarney, Cork, and of course Dublin haha. Any part of Ireland is a great place to visit really 😀
And I’m sure it will, but I’m betting it’ll be a wonderful experience! ❤
