Awards and Milestones | Versatile Blogger, Miranda Sings, and Other Announcements

Because I’m so behind on getting to these awards, I’m doing two in the same post to make sure I don’t put them off any longer than I already have!

The Miranda Sings Award

the-mirana-sings-award

I’ll have to send many thanks to the lovely Jacquie over at Rattle the Stars for nominating me for this amazing award way back in November! I’m SO sorry for getting to it just now. Bad Azia! But please be sure to check out Jacquie’s gorgeous, newly redesigned blog. She’s got some amazing content over there. And be sure to check out her ARC reviews and book tags!

The Rules:

Announce your win with a post, and link the blogger who nominated you.

  • Include the featured image on your blog post.
  • Nominate 10 bloggers (or as many as you can think of) and link your awardees in the post. (I’m doing 3 because I’m a lazy bum)
  • List 7 things you love about yourself. (This can be about your appearance, your personality, your achievements, etc.)
  • Don’t use negative connotation (i.e. Don’t say things like – “I’m prettier than an average person.” or “People have told me I’m smart.” You are pretty. You are smart.)

1. I love my eyes: Many individuals have body issues, and I’m no different. My self-esteem was at an all time low in my middle and high school days. But after coming to college, I began to accept my appearance. The first aspect of my features I fell in love with were my eyes. They are almond shaped with dark brown irises and medium length lashes. Nothing special other than they’re my eyes and I love them for what they are!

2. I love my natural hair: I went through a phase where I didn’t want anyone to see my real hair. So, I wore braid extensions throughout the school year, and even during the majority of summer. I just couldn’t handle my natural black hair. It’s difficult to manage and it takes time and money to care for properly. College is a place of wonders, because last year I joined the natural hair movement and began to love my hair again. I love the days I wear my fro with a large bow or the days I sport my frohawk!

3. I love my curves: I have hips, a booty, thick thighs and other assets. All I can say is I’m so happy with what my momma gave me. I began to love my curves about a year ago and I haven’t stopped loving them since.

4. I love my height: I say I’m 5 foot, but the truth is, I’m about 4’11 and three quarters. I’m fun-sized! I have trouble reaching the high shelves in the kitchen and I have trouble looking over things. But hey, I’ve got a lower center of gravity and it’s harder to knock me down (It’s not like I have a long ways to fall, anyway).

5. I love my obsession with music: Music gives me life. I love music so much that I don’t limit myself to just a few genres. I listen to anything I think is good: folk, rock, hard rock, metal, alternative, classical, EDM, blues, jazz, motown, soul, R&B, hip-hop, rap, underground, and much more. If it’s good, I’ll give it a go. And I’ll dance the night away or sing myself hoarse if I can’t get enough of it!

6. I love my geek tendencies: What does it even mean to be a geek? I don’t really know. But I do know a lot about DC Comics (specifically Batman and Superman) and Marvel (mostly the X-Men), I love to watch and play video games, I have a secret obsession with anime and manga, my favorite heroine is Lara Croft, I have a crush on Nathan Drake, I love books, and I’m a pretty big fan of all things Star Wars. Geek, am I? (see what I did there?) Hey, at least I have a bunch of conversation starters in my arsenal!

7. I love my quietness: I used to be extremely shy. I thought it was the most frightening thing to meet new people and speak up. Now, I’m not as shy as I used to be. I just prefer to be quiet and listen. Many of my acquaintances seem to be confused about my quietness because they think I’m painfully shy or awkward. But the truth is, I just don’t have anything to say, and I learn so much about everyone I meet because I take the time to listen to what they have to say!

My lovely nominees:

Kayla @ Kdrewkthebookworm

Tiana @ The Book Raven

Izzy @  Ravenclaw Book Club

This one’s a hard one to do, but I challenge you all to love yourself! And anyone else who would like to list the things you love about yourself, consider yourself tagged 😀

7 Facts About Me

1. I love taking long walks. When I’m sad, I go for a walk. When I’m happy, I go for a walk. When I’m bored, I go for a walk. When I’m trying to trick myself into thinking I’m actually exercising, I go for a walk. Basically, walking is my solution to all my problems.

2. I really really hate mushrooms (it’s a fungus), bell peppers (too bitter), and pickled artichoke hearts (what even are these things?). They are the only foods I will straight up reject if you offer them to me.

3. I used to play the flute in elementary school. I can’t remember how to play a single note.

4. I want to go skydiving for one of my birthdays, but I don’t know which one yet.

5. My idea of a good time is playing Taboo or Scattergories with my family (including the aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents).

6. When I get a dog (hopefully a Husky), his name will be Akiva.

7. My sky blue cruiser bike has a name: It’s Jesse. Jesse James Parker, to be exact.

My Awesome Nominees:

Reg @ She Latitude

Lilly @ Lair of Books

Stephanie @ Teacher of YA

Ava @ Reads, Rhythms, and Ruminations

Abigail @ Miss Abigail

  1. Thank you so much for nominating me! Sometimes it is hard to learn to love what makes you you and I am glad for the opportunity to celebrate some of the things that I am proud of about myself. I really enjoyed reading this post. Congratulations on 200 followers! That’s a huge achievement to be proud of. 😊

  2. Great facts for both your awards Azia, I love my geeky tendencies as well. I’ll have to admit that I’m more of a Marvel fan over DC because I do not like Batman at all, and my friend pretty much leaves me in the dust when it comes to geekiness but all levels right?
Also congrats on 200 followers. It’s an amazing achievement and you must be so pleased. I’m sure it’s the start of many more followers for your amazing blog! 😀 ❤

    1. Thanks, Beth! ❤ And being a geek is the best. Oh no! Not a Batman fan?! *horror face* JK. I can see why so many people dislike Batman haha. He's also kind of creepy if you think about it LOL. I love both Marvel and DC equally, I think. IMO, I think Marvel has the best heroes and DC has the best villains!

And thank you! I sincerely hope so as well. I just love being able to meet new people who stumble across my little blog 🙂 ❤

      1. That’s all right! ❤
Being a geek is the best but yeah, sorry to say I'm not a fan of Batman. I just think, and I've argued this point with one of my friends, that he could do so much more good for Gotham by donating money to the police and the other emergency services than he does dressing up as a bat and wasting police resources because they chase him instead of the criminals!
I much prefer Marvel heroes but DC does have some amazing villains I'll admit!
That's all right, I think one of the best parts of blogging is meeting everyone on here! 😀

      2. Ah you make a very good argument! Philanthropic Bruce Wayne could be just as effective as Vigilante Batman. But on the other hand, Gotham has such a corrupt police force. Oh look at that. My geek switch has been turned on LOL XD

But I love Marvel heroes (The Avengers ftw!) and plus, Marvel movies are so much better than DC ones. Although I AM looking forward to Wonder Woman. I’m hoping that one turns out all right 🙂

      3. My friends never managed to come back from that argument when I use it! 🙂 And yes the police department is corrupt, at the moment. If Bruce donated money they could probably clean it up a little and hire actual good police officers instead of what they have now!
Definitely the Avengers, and actually now you mention it I’m really excited for Wonder Woman as well, the trailers look beyond amazing! 😀

      4. It’s a very good argument! 😁 Most people who say they don’t like Batman usually just say it’s because he’s creepy or a hero based on a bat is a stupid idea haha.

The trailers do look great, but let’s remember, the trailers for both Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman looked great, too. And we know how those turned out 😂😂

      5. No, I can see why most people like Batman, and I think sometimes he’s a good superhero as well. I just think if he wants to do good in Gotham there are better ways to do it than dressing up a bat and fighting crime as a vigilante.
Yeah they did, still here’s hoping Wonder Woman will be the exception to what is looking to become a rule with DC movies.

  3. Congratulations on the awards and on 200 followers! It’s truly an awesome accomplishment. 🙂
Thankyou for thinking of me. Akiwa is a great name. Has it come from daughter of smoke and bone?
    I hate mushrooms too.
    Thanks again!

  4. Aw thank you so much Azia, you’re a doll ❤ And congratulations on 200+ followers!!! *hugs tightly* That’s such a cool milestone 🙂 The first of many, I’m sure!

And I love that you love comics, manga and anime too! Do you think you will write reviews about them or stick to books? It would be awesome if you did. My favorite are X-Men as well! (We have way too much in common, so freaky hahaha)

I’ve just started watching Haters Back Off and found it a real gem. It definitely has a peculiar humor to it! But I watched the YouTube videos before it became a show on Netflix so I was somewhat prepared hahaha

Finally, keep loving yourself, girl! We all should, no matter what. You are definitely an inspiration and I wish you all the best in this new year ^^

    1. *hugs* Thanks so much, Sophie! 😀

Comics, manga, and anime secretly give me life LOL. And that’s a good question! I honestly haven’t thought about doing that, but if I did, I’d probably do reviews for anime above anything else 😀 Do you have a favorite currently??

*high five!* Another X-Men fan 😀 (And yes, it’s getting kinda scary how much we have in common LOL). And I’ll have to check out Hater Back Off! I’m always looking for something new to watch 🙂

Aww thanks so much, Sophie. Wishing you all the best, too! ❤ xx

  5. I’m working on a post that celebrates bloggers in this community that have been a support and inspiration to me. I hope for you to participate by letting me know two things. One, is What are you passionate about? Two, is what is your favorite quote? Thank you so much for your comments and wonderful posts!

    1. Of course! Sorry for the late response. School got a little busy the past couple of days. But I’d love to participate 🙂 One of the things I am very passionate about is storytelling. Of course I’m very passionate about books, but I think it’s the story that holds everything together. I love storytelling in all forms, especially the verbal and written kind. Stories are powerful and help build connections among individuals. They inspire people to imagine, to learn, and to see. And one of my favorite quotes is “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars” by Casey Kasem!

  6. Congrats on 200!! Wishing you many more hundreds in the coming days!! So great to read that you love so many things about yourself 🙂 If you have Publix by you, the other day I bought some baby sweet bell peppers and they were actually sweeter than the big general size ones. Love reading your facts! Congrats on your awards! Your blog is awesome and your reviews are excellent!

    1. Aw thanks so much, Jasmine! ❤ And I don't think we have Publix on the west coast, but if I can find the baby peppers anywhere else, I'll give them a try 🙂 And thanks so much again! 😀 ❤

  7. Congrats on achieving 200 followers, you deserve it ❤
I used to play the flute too, my teacher was pretty cool and she even taught us how to play the pirates of the caribbean song, but I don't remember a single note either haha
It's AWESOME that you love yourself and your appearance so much, YOU GO GIRL 😉 ❤

    1. Aw thank you, Marta! ❤ I would have loved to learn the Pirates theme! I used to be able to play the Titanic, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and Star Wars themes, though. I wish I could now haha.

And thank you LOL! 😉 ❤

  8. Congrats on all the followers! Your blog is amazing, though, so I can’t say I’m surprised. 😄

This post has so much body positivity in it, and I love it. Can you, like, give classes online? We need more of what you’ve got, and we need it EVERYWHERE.

Hurray for family game nights! They’re the best.

    Hope you celebrate your milestone!

    1. Aw thanks so much, Liam ❤ And I agree! I hope we can all learn to love ourselves just a little more until we love ourselves completely. There have been quite a few body positivity movements going around, and I'd love to help out wherever and whenever I can 😀

Yes! They really are 🙂 Thanks again! ❤
