Eventbrite is conducting a wonderful little project that encourages bookworms to plan their perfect panel of authors who would speak during a book conference and they’ve asked me to participate!
For those of you unfamiliar with Eventbrite, it is “the largest self-service ticketing platform in the world that helps people find and plan events.” I’ve found this platform to be extremely useful in reserving tickets to various events in advance. Go check out their conference management page to find conferences near you!
I found this offer to be very exciting news because I’d run across a post from Pierina @ Pierina Reads doing the same exact thing, and I remember wanting to do it so badly. So, I’ve spoken with a representative and we’ve decided that turning this topic into a book tag would be a great and efficient way to reach out to more book bloggers who would like to participate in the project!
Rules:
- Give a shoutout to the person who tagged you
- Answer the proposed questions
- Get creative and add a bit of extra content if you’d like (optional)
- Tag 10 – 15 fellow book bloggers
- Shoot an email to Ms. Cara (cbenson@eventbrite.com) to notify her that you have published a post for the book tag. Be sure to include a link to your post.
Who Would Be on Your Panel and Which Questions Would You Ask Them?
The sad thing about all of this is I haven’t been to many book conferences. I’m guessing that a panel consists of possibly six or seven people, at most? And if that’s the case, it’s too hard to choose. I’ll have to go against the grain and do it a bit differently.
Because I have a hard time choosing which authors I’d love to have on my panel, I’m going to choose my favorite characters, instead. The authors would be present during the conference to represent their creations but I’d love to hear from the characters themselves!
Magnus Bane
Oh, Magnus Bane. So blasé blasé and fabulous, yet so caring and loyal. Just imagine this guy on a panel. The sass and sarcasm levels would be off the charts. Admittedly, he’s one of the main reasons I’m a fan of Cassandra Clare’s works. I find myself eagerly awaiting his arrival in each book installment, and even though he made only two to three cameo appearances in Lady Midnight, it was more than enough for me. Thanks to Magnus Bane, (and thanks to the stunning cast of characters, captivating plot development, and strong writing style), Cassandra Clare has become one of my favorite authors.
Questions: Who designs your clothing? How has your life changed after you adopted your son? How often do you keep in contact with Jace and Clary? How did you become one of the most powerful warlocks? On a scale of 1 to 10, how much did Sebastian’s reign of terror affect you?
Kaz Brekker
Leigh Bardugo you’ve done it. You’ve managed to make me fall in love with a criminal. Yes, Kaz Brekker has no chill. I bet he would even survey the conference room to see what kind of treasures he can swipe. But despite his crooked, scheming ways, Kaz has a heart, and that’s what I like about him. Considering his wit and insight, I’d think his speeches would be quite lively and full of many, many surprises.
Questions: What’s your next big scheme? How do you plan on overcoming your phobia? Would you be willing to give up your life as a criminal if Inej asked you to? Have you figured out Inej’s favorite flower?
Daniel “Day” Altan Wing and June Iparis
First, you can’t have Day without June. That’d be a crime against humanity. Second, I honestly want Day to be there just to see him in person. The way Marie Lu described him, it seems like he’d be the type to make a few girls literally faint from his beauty and charm. I want to be one of those girls. But no, in all seriousness, I’d love to have both Day and June there because they are one of my all-time favorite OTPs and I admire each of them individually for their strength and bravery.
Questions for Day: How did you feel in that moment you were chosen to become the face of a rebellion? What scared you more: your relationship with June or your duty as a leader? How have things been since you and June reunited?
Questions for June: How does it feel to be considered a prodigy? During the time of crisis, which situation frightened you the most? What was life like following the absence of Day? What is your favorite memory of your brother?
Nina Zenik
To add a little bit more girl power to the panel, I’d like to include Nina from Six of Crows. Nina is a headstrong, independent young Grisha that knows how to capture hearts with her charm, sass, and intelligence. I really admired Nina’s character and she seems like she’d bring the party with her wherever she goes. I think she’d add some much needed vibrancy to the panel. I think she and Magnus Bane would get along just fine.
Questions: How are you? What are your plans for the future? Even though most of Kaz’s plots were life-threatening, did you ever have fun carrying them out? Which is your favorite dessert?
Rhysand
At first I was thinking I shouldn’t put Rhys down because I thought that just might be too much sass for one panel, but then I thought “eh, let there be sass.” And so here he is on my dream panel. Besides wishing for the opportunity to see Rhys and Kaz in the same room together, I’d love to ask Rhys more about his relationships with his Inner Circle and also about his time in Under the Mountain.
Questions: Do you have a favorite past-time or hobby? How often do you hang out with your friends and what do you like to do together? What’s the best part about flying? What helped you to remain strong while you were held captive for so long? What do you love most about Feyre?
*Needless to say, I’d love all the authors who made these characters to be part of the panel: Cassandra Clare, Leigh Bardugo, Marie Lu, and Sarah J. Maas. I’d also like to add Marissa Meyer, D.J. McHale and James Patterson!*
Who Would Be the Moderator?
I think Jesper Ejsing and Nikolai Lantsov (Grisha Trilogy) would be the perfect moderators. The two of them together would keep the crowd (and the panel of characters) fully entertained with their nonstop tomfoolery and buckets of charm and charisma. And because it’s a little hard to picture Jesper without his other half, I’d like Wylan to be there, too. He doesn’t have to say anything, but he can just kind of hang around in the back to show his support for Jesper.
Where Would It Take Place
Well, if we’re talking fantastical locations, I’d love to hold the conference in the Night Court. Based on how Maas described it, I think it’d just be an amazing location. If we’re not talking fantastical, I’d go with San Francisco. One, because it’s close to me, and two, because San Fran is blessed with many different eccentric characters and I think these fictional characters would fit right in.

Ahhh! I love both Six of Crows and Legend! They have such swoon worthy characters. Fictional, must they be? 😭

SoC and Legend are two of my favorite YAs! I agree that they are filled to the brim with charming characters; unfortunately, we will never be able to meet them, just imagine meeting them *cries silently in a corner* LOL

I’ve seen this Dream Panel thingy on several blogs and I thought it looked like fun, so that’s cool that it’s turned into a tag! Thanks for tagging me! And I just love your questions for Kaz Brekker. 😉

I don’t have a lot of conferences here where I live, so at least imagining my ideal one would be awesome haha thanks for tagging me, what a great idea 😀

That’s okay! I’ve only been to one book panel and it wasn’t even at a conference haha. So…I guess that means I’ve never been to a book conference LOL. Imagining one was so much fun though. I’m sure you’ll have a great time coming up with your dream panel 😀

I love how you did this with characters instead of authors. Everyone you picked is so great and that would be one hilarious conference 😂. Is it just me or could you imagine Kaz being really broody. I feel like he would be so quiet in comparison to all of the others haha. Thanks so much for the tag! ♥

Thank you! 😁 And I can definitely imagine that. Either he’d blow us away with his calculated cleverness or scare us with his broody silence. There is no in-between 😂 Or he’d be quiet because he’d be scoping out all the exits after he stole something. Who knows? Lol. Hope you enjoy doing this one! ❤

You’re welcome! 😊
I know right? Oh I can definitely see him being quiet because he’s scoping out the exits. People would have to warned ahead of time to leave anything that is extremely valuable at home. Since he is a master pickpocket and all. 😂😂

LOL. I love it. Kaz is such an amazing character. I hope we get to see him again in a spinoff or another series that’s tied to the Grisha universe! 😀

I hope so too! Especially because you know if we see him we’ll see Inej and that means we’re bound to see the others too. 😊

I really do haha. And of course! Rhysand is from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas! An EXCELLENT book.

Yes he’s in that too! 🙂 He just has a bigger role in the second book

Ok, I better get reading then. I’m only at the part where Feyre is going with Faerie to his home trading a life for a life 😊

Oh yay! I hope you enjoy the book. I think the second one is much better, but the first has its strengths. Can’t wait to read your review on it! 😀

Thanks so much for the tag, and sorry I took a while to respond to this – I’ve just been busy with finals and such! 🙂 Kaz, Nina, and Rhysand are all AMAZING choices, and I can’t think of a better place to host this other than the Night Court! x
