The Black Cat Blue Sea Award

Hello, everyone! I wasn’t planning on doing anything today because I’m just so tired. But then I thought against it. Blogging usually brings up my spirits but also soothes me at the same time.

Today I’d like to thank Jasmine @ How Useful It Is for nominating me for the Black Cat Blue Sea award! Please check out her wonderful blog. She’s got loads of amazing content, including tags, buddy reads, reviews, and even book sale alerts!

So what is the the Black Cat Blue Sea award? Well, according to a source Jasmine found around the blogosphere, the award is “for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get, make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it, and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.”

I’m so honored to be chosen. Thank you again, Ms. Jasmine 😀

The Rules:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you
  2. Answer the three questions posed by the nominator
  3. Nominate eight other bloggers and provide them with your own three questions
  4. If any of the questions asked are offensive or the nominee simply does not want to answer, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award

Jasmine’s Questions

Do you blog because you love to write or because you love to read?

At first, I started blogging because I love to write, but then I fell back in love with reading, so now I blog mostly because I love to read. But I occasionally show my love for writing by posting some excerpts of my short stories here and there!

Do you want to meet any of your blog friends in real life? Or keep it virtual?

I’ve met so many amazing people here on WordPress. And I think at times it’s much easier to speak to one another online and just keep it virtual. Even so, there are QUITE a few wonderful blogger friends I’d love to meet in real life, if only for a little coffee chat. A few (off the top of my head) are Gretchen, Sammie, Jasmine, Sophie, Lily (who I keep in contact with mostly on Goodreads), Melissa, LiaJacquie, and Megan along with several others! I feel like there’s just some personalities that need to be experienced in real life.

How many social medias do you join to support your blog?

Well, I already had all my social media platforms (Insta, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, Facebook, Google+, and Goodreads) set up before my blog, so I kind of just smacked them on the front page and hoped visitors would see them. If not, that’s okay with me too. But at least I’ve started using Twitter much more since I began blogging!

My Questions

  1. Why and when did you begin blogging?
  2. Are there any books/places you re-read/revisit for a special occasion or season (i.e. winter/the holidays)?
  3. Do you have more fun ranting about a book or raving about it in your reviews?

My Lovely Nominees:

Niraja @ Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them

Sammie @ Bookshelves and Biros

Liam @ Hey Ashers!

Diana @ Diana Prince Reviews

Lia @ Lost in a Story

Becca @ Becca and Books

Steph @ Scale it Simple

Kirsty @ Kirsty and the Cat Read

For those who’d like to participate, I’m excited to see your answers! ❤

  1. I would hope to meet you one day too! 😊 and I’m the same way. I have been using Twitter & Instagram more because I started reading more 😊 are we connected in twitter, Instagram and Goodreads? Do you mind to put your links in?

    1. Yay! 🙂 I’m not really into social media, tbh. I just use FB for memes and vids, Twitter for author updates, Goodreads for my bookish ways, and Pinterest for all things pretty. I rarely use my other accounts and no one really gets an update from me from the ones I DO choose to use LOL. I think we might be connected on Insta already, but here are my links:

  2. Congrats on receiving this award! You absolutely deserve it! And thanks for the shout out. It would be so much fun getting all of us together and going for a coffee and some book/blog chat! I agree with you… some relationships are probably better off remaining virtual, but there are others who you feel you just NEED to meet in real life!!

    1. Thank you so much! ❤ And of course! You definitely deserve it just as much 😀 I'd really love to meet everyone one day. There's nothing more fun than sharing your thoughts about books. It's what we bookworms/book bloggers live for haha.

  3. It would be amazing to all meet up in real life and not just communicate through our blogs. Thanks for including me on your list of people you’d like to meet. I’m much more subdued on the blog than I am in real life. My crazy fangirling and history nerd self doesn’t always shone through in my writing hahaha 😛

    1. It would be an honor meeting all of you amazing bloggers! And don’t worry about it 😀 I’m pretty shy and kind of (really) quiet myself. It takes me a while to break out of my shell and to act like my true, slightly crazy self when meeting someone new or even when I’m talking with people I DO know haha 😉

  4. Aw, hopefully life isn’t too terribly stressful for you right now. Hurray for a relaxing/soothing activity to help out when things are tough, though!

Heck yes, blogging for both the reading and writing. It’s always great to find a well-rounded blog.

I totally agree; interacting primarily online is a lot easier, but the blogging community is filled with amazing people who’re no doubt just as awesome to hang out with in real life. I hope you get to get together with some eventually!

How do you keep up with so many social media sites, I can’t even.

Thank you so much for the nomination! Your questions are great (especially since they won’t shove me personally into the spotlight, where I would freeze like a deer and promptly die 😅). Can’t wait to answer them! ❤

    1. Oh my goodness, you are the sweetest thing haha ❤ Life's okay right now; just need to get past finals and I'm home freeeeeeee 😀

And yes! I love blogs that have a wide variety of content. I've run across so many great blogs recently, including yours! I hope to find so many more!

I'd love to meet the amazing people I've talked to as I've carried on my blogging journey. I hope to meet you one day, as well 😀 You seem like such a nice and vibrant person.

And I don't keep up with them. I just have them LOL. The only ones I use (occasionally) are Goodreads, Twitter, and Facebook!

Of course! It's well-deserved! Honestly, I wish I could nominate so many more people haha. And yay! I'm glad you like the questions! Hope you have fun answering them! Can't wait to read you answers ❤

      1. Oof, finals. Best of luck! *Pom poms.*

I’m pretty sure the real danger in the blogging community is finding too many great blogs rather than too few. Not that I’m complaining!

Aw, thank you! You’re clearly amazing, yourself. 😄 Oh man, it’d be great to have a quiet little blogging festival somewhere, where we could all hang out together in some cool city’s coffee shops and bookstores and libraries. I’d get over my shyness for that in a heartbeat.

Ah, so you’re human after all! I do believe those bloggers who are constantly updating their blogs AND a half-dozen social media things have at least one divine ancestor in their lineage. It’s the only explanation.

      2. Thank you! ❤

And you're completely right! I've just found so many more great blogs. It's so hard to keep up! But as you say, I ain't complaining haha.

Ooh a blogging festival would be such a lovely idea! I know I'd have loads of fun there despite my shyness, too 😀

LOL. Yes, I am merely mortal. But I completely agree. Those who manage ALL of their social media AND make it look amazing are some sort of superhuman/divinely blessed demigod XD One day I might achieve this status of pure awesomeness, but not while I'm still in school suffering from midterms and finals LOL ❤

    1. Thank you and of course! It’s well-deserved 😀 And it’s funny how books hold so much influence over us writers and readers! I love writing, but I fell in love with writing because of my love for reading. So it seemed only natural for my writing blog to turn into a book blog with some writing still attached 😀 I’m having so much fun discussing books with fellow bookworms! And yay!! I can’t wait to read your answers ❤

  5. Congrats on the award! And thanks for the shout out. I’d love to meet you one day too. It would be so much fun getting coffee and fangirling over books, a description of the perfect day! I completely agree about some personalities needing to be experienced in real life. Though I have to admit I’m such a chatterbox on here and so shy in person. 😂🙈

    1. Thanks a bunch 😀 And of course! I’m so glad you’d like to meet me, too haha. And I couldn’t agree more that that would be a lovely day! That’s all you really need: coffee, books, and someone to fangirl with LOL. I’m usually very shy, too, but I open up easily with my fellow bibliophiles 😀

  6. We can totally hang and have coffee together, I am so down for that any day lol. We can talk about books, writing, and traveling and ALL SORTS OF STUFF!!! I can talk for days if that’s oaky with you. Thank you so much for mentioning me, I feel so honored.

  7. Why am I so late to reply to this? >.>

Well, thank you so much for including me in your list! *virtual hug incoming* It does feel easier online sometimes, but I just don’t think of you or some others in here as strangers anymore, so it just makes sense! ❤

    Lovely post, as always 🙂

    1. LOL. That’s all right! It’s so easy to lose track of some stuff. I know I have haha. And of course! *virtually receives hug* And yeah, I definitely see you and a few other bloggers as more than just online strangers and peers 🙂 I’d love the chance to meet you all one day. And thank you! ❤
