The Victorian Walled Garden at Kylemore Abbey
During my visit to Kylemore Abbey in the Connemara, there was an opportunity to view the prestigious Victorian Walled Garden. The Benedictine nuns of the abbey began a restoration program of the 6 acre garden (originally developed in the late 1800s) in 1995 and the grounds were eventually opened to the public in 2000. The garden was the last garden to be built during the Victorian era and has won the Europa Nostra Award following its restoration. Speaking of the abbey, here’s a photo of that too!
